FAIR TRADE

Hamodava has been pioneering fair trade since 1897. Today our coffee, instant coffee and Belgian hot chocolate are all Fairtrade certified. When you see the Fairtrade mark on our products, it is third–party certification and assurance that what we sell meets social, environmental and economic standards.

Since establishing Hamodava in the late 1800's The Salvation Army has committed to ensuring ethical trade that results in positive transformation for farming communities. This was at the forefront in our decision to adopt the Fairtrade Mark in 2016.

What is Fairtrade?
Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, local sustainability, and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

By requiring companies to pay sustainable prices (which must never fall lower than the market price), Fairtrade addresses the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, weakest producers. It enables them to improve their position and have more control over their lives.

Hamodava supports Fairtrade's mission to connect disadvantaged farmers and workers with consumers, promote fairer trading conditions and empower farmers and workers to combat poverty, strengthen their position and take more control over their lives.
